EAST LIBERTY, OH – The National Safety Council, in partnership with the Ohio Traffic Safety Office, has named Transportation Research Center Inc. (TRC) a recipient of the 2025 Our Driving Concern Ohio Employer Traffic “Excellence in Traffic Safety” Award. The honor recognizes TRC’s outstanding commitment to keeping its employees safe and the global role TRC plays in advancing automotive safety.
TRC joined the City of Sharonville Police Department and Ohio Operation Lifesaver in being recognized by the National Safety Council through its inaugural Our Driving Concern Ohio Employer Traffic Safety Awards.
“These organizations aren’t just following best practices – they’re leading the way on the Road to Zero – zero crashes, zero injuries, zero fatalities,” said Mark Chung, executive vice president of safety leadership and advocacy at NSC.
“Safety has been central to TRC’s mission for more than 50 years,” said Brett Roubinek, president and CEO of Transportation Research Center Inc. “Whether we’re testing next-generation technologies that protect millions of drivers worldwide or ensuring our own employees return home safely each day, this award affirms our commitment to creating a culture where safety comes first.”
From its world-class proving grounds, TRC advances vehicle safety and performance through rigorous testing, research, and industry collaboration. Over the past year alone, TRC has launched a $25 million upgrade to its Impact Laboratory to advance crashworthiness research for next-generation vehicles; led the Research Consortium for Crashworthiness in Automated Driving Systems (RCCADS), hosted public workshops to shape safety standards for emerging vehicle technologies; enforced strict safety protocols, including seatbelt and helmet requirements, speed limits, and hands-free device policies—achieving 506 consecutive days without a lost-time injury; and provided extensive training for employees and clients, requiring all drivers on the TRC campus to complete safety certifications and regular re-training.
TRC, an independent 501(c)3, is North America’s most advanced service provider, fulfilling the complex engineering, research, validation, evaluation, and testing needs of the world’s leading smart mobility and transportation stakeholders. For over 50 years, industry and governmental agencies alike have relied on TRC to conduct research into automation, connectivity, alternative fuels (including electrification and hydrogen), safety, efficiency, durability, simulation, and performance across all types of mobility.
The National Safety Council is America’s leading nonprofit safety advocate and has been for over 110 years. As a mission-based organization, they work to eliminate the leading causes of preventable death and injury, focusing our efforts on the workplace and roadway. The organization creates a culture of safety to protect people from hazard and injury in the workplace and beyond so they can live their fullest lives.
