Transportation Research Center Strengthens Senior Leadership Team with Appointments to Two Newly Created Executive Positions

Andrew Mathers to become Executive Director of Strategy and Innovation. Taylor Manahan is named Executive Director of Services.

EAST LIBERTY, OH – Transportation Research Center Inc. (TRC), North America’s foremost mobility testing and research provider, has made strategic changes in its senior leadership team to prepare for new growth and continue advances in transportation technology.

Andrew Mathers, a seven-year TRC veteran who most recently served on the west coast as Director of TRC California, will return to TRC Ohio in the new role of Executive Director, Strategy & Innovation. Taylor Manahan who currently serves as Director of Advanced Mobility will remain in senior leadership but in the newly created position of Executive Director of Services.

“These are exciting times for TRC and the innovative industries we serve,” said President and CEO Brett Roubinek.  “Two new executive positions and the seasoned professionals we’ve selected to fill them will help us ensure that TRC’s world-class facilities and expertise stay one step ahead of what’s next for the industry and maintain our leadership in evolving technologies, like autonomous mobility, that are changing the face of transportation worldwide.”

Roubinek said the position of Executive Director of Strategy and Innovation was created to drive TRC’s continuous strategy-development process and lead projects to improve efficiency and grow TRC’s operations/services in line with emerging technologies and stakeholder needs.  The new position of Executive Director of Services will be responsible for ensuring delivery of high-quality client services and developing strategies to improve and expand those operations.

Mathers, who has years of experience in the automotive and aero-acoustical industries, has served in a number of leadership roles with TRC since 2016, most recently helping establish TRC California.  He had leading roles in the design and construction of multiple facilities at TRC Ohio, including the 540-acre SMARTCenter, James A Rhodes Conference Center and new resident client buildings on the proving ground.  Mathers is a member of Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) and Chair of the International Committee on Proving Ground Safety (ICPGS).  He holds a B.Eng. in Automotive Engineering from Ontario Technical University and an MBA from Ohio University.

Manahan joined TRC in 2011 as a research engineer at the Vehicle Research and Test Center where she specialized in advanced technology programs, advanced driver-assist and automated vehicle testing. Manahan then became the business development manager before assuming her present role as the Director of Advanced Mobility.  She holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio Northern University and an MBA from Otterbein University.
